Living Sport are excited to host the Cambridgeshire & Peterborough School Games Colour Run

Living Sport are excited to host the Cambridgeshire & Peterborough School Games Colour Run and are delighted to be welcoming 500 young people from across the county to Milton Country Park on Wednesday 17th April 2024, for a day of colour, fun, physical activity, and movement!

We are pleased to be able to deliver a more non-traditional activity with clear outcomes and intent to target those young people who do not typically have the opportunity to participate or represent their schools and districts in sports or physical activities outside of their school environment. The three intended outcomes and purposes of this event are:

  • To reintegrate peers and tackle social isolation/disconnection.
  • To support with school transitioning from primary to secondary school.
  • To provide a positive physical activity experience for those less engaged students.

The School Games is a free to access offer to all schools across Cambridgeshire & Peterborough and we were pleased to welcome 30 schools from across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough to the 2023 event.

This year, we were keen to explore more options with our ‘event village’ and we are delighted to invite our local and national partners to deliver some pop-up and interactive activities and offer the year 7 students attending a chance to explore new physical activity opportunities. Some of these include ‘blend your own smoothie’ bikes, a climbing wall, archery, table tennis, crazy golf, boxing, rowing, fitness activities, healthy lifestyle & education sessions, inflatable football targets, rowing, rugby and clubbercise.

We would like to thank every one of our partners who will be supporting the event and those who will be volunteering on the day to make the event possible.

The Colour Run consists of a 3.2-kilometre route around the full site at Milton Country Park. The participants will experience a fun, high-energy warm-up which will be delivered by Amelia Grant from Clubbercise, before heading off on the route containing nine designated colour zones.  After the student shave completed the Colour Run and collected their medal, they will have time to explore the different physical activities on offer in our exciting event village. We are also extremely grateful to the 48 young sports leaders who will be attending to help marshal and throw paint– our thanks to Cambourne VC, Impington VC and Comberton VC.
