After a rather chilly start, it turned out to be a lovely sunny autumn morning for our team at the Great Eastern Run in Peterborough on Sunday 15th October.
With our gazebo and stand set up in the runners’ event village, we were ready to support and cheer on our team of 13 wonderful fundraisers on their 13.1 mile run around the streets of Peterborough on a new route that took the runners past the cathedral this year.
Our runners had been given the first 13 bib numbers out of thousands of starters and Living Sport staff member David Welch was excited to head to the start line as number 1!
Whilst the runners were all off on their challenge, our event village team loved having the opportunity to chat with people about Living Sport and raise awareness of what we do. It was also great to meet some of the other charities in attendance and learn more about their activities and fundraising teams.
We also had a Living Sport cheering team located along the final part of the route with lots of banners and excited family members joining in with the fun! The support from local residents around the route was really nice to see and the bands coming out to play live music certainly added to the great atmosphere.

As the runners started to come through the finish it was great to hear so many positive stories and to see how much everyone had enjoyed the event, even if they did have some very tired legs! There were post-race refreshments and a sports massage on offer for our runners at our stand and a chance for the runners to feedback to us on their experience of being part of our team.
We would like to say a massive thank you to all of our fundraisers and to everyone who donated to them. We are so grateful for the time and hard work that you put into the training and we were very proud to have you represent Living Sport.
