SEND Family Fun Morning visits Love’s Farm

Living Sport were thrilled to support the latest inclusive event held at Love’s Farm House in St Neots in February half term.

The event funded by Sport England’s National Lottery Together Fund was run together with the Ability PLUS group and is aimed at families with children who have special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) to enjoy activities together. The event was fully booked, with families coming from St. Neots and also further a field from Cambridge and Peterborough. There was a range of ages from teenagers to baby and toddler siblings all having a great time.

The aim of the morning, taking learning from previous events and feedback was to provide a relaxed opportunity for families to get active together whatever the needs of their children but also to have the chance to take a break, enjoy a drink and chat to others. We also took the opportunity to chat about what activities are needed locally or might already be happening to help us make connections and develop more inclusive options so that everyone can get active in a way that suits them.

Outside of Loves Farm House

Families enjoyed 2 hours of fun with plenty of choice for sports and games to play together in the community Centre, including Table Tennis provided by St Neots Table Tennis Club alongside adapted sports of Boccia, and New Age Kurling as well as parachute games. There was a quieter room with a number of sensory items which were enjoyed by all ages and plenty of space to sit, have a drink and chat with other parents and volunteers from Tennis and the local inclusive football club Priory Parkside Pumas.

When asking the children what their favourite activities where, Table Tennis was popular along with the Peanut ball!

Ability PLUS group supported by Living Sport will be running two further events like this one in the Easter Holidays. Bookings are open on the website.
