Poppy’s Clip ‘n’ Climb Story

About Poppy

Poppy, a regular climber, uses the climbing hoist at Clip ‘n’ Climb – you can see her here with her Brownie group.

Poppy has Dyskenetic Cerebal Palsy which affects all four of her limbs.  With the hoist, she can enjoy climbing with her friends.

About Clip ‘n’ Climb

At Clip ‘n Climb Cambridge, they passionately share an ethos around inclusion for all, supporting groups and individuals to challenge themselves, and promoting healthy lifestyle activities.

They support as many people as possible through our regular climbing events, working with charities and groups, and through 1:1 activity.

On the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Sunday of each month, Clip ‘n Climb Cambridge run a special session for those climbers with special educational needs. Between 9 and 10am, they provide a calm environment for all members of the family to climb; they turn the music right down if needed, and ensure that there are plenty of instructors to help, restricting numbers in the session to 12.

They have been fortunate to work with Spectrum Cambridge, a multi-award winning, parent-led charity, providing events and support for families of children with Autism, additional needs, learning difficulties and disabilities.

They can also host events for clubs and organisations, and work with groups beforehand to ensure that they understand specific requirements. Organisers are more than welcome to arrange a time to visit the centre to have a look around, prior to any bookings. Events that they have hosted include fundraisers and social events.

At Clip ‘n Climb Cambridge they have a team of friendly instructors that can help as much or as little as needed.  Their main facilities are on the ground floor, and there is parking just outside that can be booked in advance.
