G-Whizz is an inclusive tandem cycling club set up by Graham Davies, who is based in Sawtry just off the A1 10mins south of Peterborough. G-Whizz offers inclusive tandem bike rides giving cycling experiences to a range of cyclists who can’t ride a bike on their own.
The bikes include standard and semi-recumbent sitting positions and independent pedalling systems, on-road rides are available to non-disabled, visually impaired, limited mobility and cyclists with impaired balance. Rides can range from a few miles to many miles, including overnight stays, depending on the ability of the rider.
These are the latest dates for tandem bike rides and events in the region:
Day rides: Tuesday 7th February. Friday 17th February and Saturday 25th February.
Rides will all be centred around Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire. Each will be around 50 miles with 1 café stop enroute. Rides are planned using Google maps fed into a Garmin device and all routes are planned to avoid where possible busy A/trunk roads,
making best use of gentle country lanes.
Weekend ride: Friday 28th April to Monday 1st May
A weekend ride is being arranged for Friday 28th April to Monday 1st May. This is open to all and, following the same format as the day rides, will again be centred around Huntingdonshire. Overnight stays are available at the nearby Redwings Lodge, Sawtry if required. If interested in riding with us please get in touch as soon as possible.
September Mid-week break: Monday 4th to Friday 8th September 2023.
There is a mid-week break planned for Pontin’s in Lowestoft for 5 days/4 nights, giving us 3 full days of cycling in and around Suffolk. The dates for this break are This is half board with self-service breakfasts and evening meals in basic but clean and comfortable chalets, with plenty of evening entertainment for a very affordable price.
