Celebrate the Fens Day at Chatteris

Have you heard the annual celebration of Fens Day at Chatteris is back!

Come and celebrate the Fens Weekend 16th-18th June 2023 where a volunteer will take you on a 30-minute tour to view the current planning, layout, and wildlife and talk about the development and content of the park and its future and how it relates to local nature, heritage, and wellbeing. Pre-booked tours from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.

It’s a flat but un-metaled footpath that runs around the perimeter of the park and along the old railway toward Huntingdon Road, Chatteris. No toilet or other facilities are on site or nearby. We recommend wellies and waterproofs if it’s a wet day. A picnic table and large log seating areas are available.

It’s located at the end of West Street. Follow the Pocket Park signs along a farm track down toward the Anglian Water pumping station and the old Chatteris to Somersham railway line footpath.

King’s Dyke Nature Reserve Guided Walk

Come and join King’s Dyke Nature Reserve where Sarah Lambert leads a relaxing and informative walk in the private nature reserve just west of Whittlesey.

The history of the site dates to the 1920’s when clay was dug by pickaxe and shovel. The site was worked out in the 1970’s and was finally restored in 1995. It now offers a wonderful example of how industrial land can be transformed to benefit both wildlife and the local community.

The meeting point is at the reserve car park off A605 by Forterra Customer Services site, PE7 1PD what3words: twinkled.fields.unwell
